Lorri W. Cooper Associate
Lorri Cooper is an associate at Pearne & Gordon LLP. She practices in the area of intellectual property law primarily in the mechanical arts and consumer products field, with emphasis on patent and trademark prosecution, opinion work, client counseling, and IP licensing and technology transactions. Lorri's patent prosecution practice includes patent counseling services on matters related to patentability, patent validity, patent infringement, pre-litigation counseling, and patent portfolio development and management, with emphasis on developing strategic plans and procedures for maximizing worldwide intellectual property rights in a cost-effective manner. Lorri's IP transactional experience includes consulting on corporate IP M&A matters. She has drafted technology transaction documents and intellectual property licenses, and conducted intellectual property due diligence. Lorri has prepared utility, design, reissue, and reexamination applications in numerous product fields, such as packaging machinery, electromechanical devices, building products, medical equipment, air bags, jet engines, pumps, valves, compressors, firearms, lighters, pens, luggage, office products, laminates, small machines, containers, circuit boards, connectors, golf clubs and shoes, cosmetic applicators, containers, bedding, mobile communication devices, and business methods, among many others. Prior to entering the legal field, Lorri worked for six years as a mechanical engineer for Pratt & Whitney, a division of United Technologies Corporation, where she focused on commercial jet engine design and development. Her clients included Airbus Industries and Boeing. Lorri is a member of the Cleveland Bar Association and the Cleveland Intellectual Property Law Association, where she has been the chair of the PTO Practice Sub-Committee for the past two years. |
